The Library Services District Director is responsible for the administration and coordination of the constituent technical services functions of Library Support Services.  Library Support Services functions which include: acquisitions, cataloging, continuing resources for automated system administration, web development, and access maintenance to the Libraries’ collections of digital and print resources.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Administer, document, and assist with the workflow and primary functions of the Library Support Services department: systems administration, acquisitions, cataloging, continuing resources, interlibrary loan, and materials processing.

Hire, supervise, schedule, and evaluate Library Support Services faculty and staff.

Manage or supervise the administration of the integrated library system (ILS) and other library-related systems, including licensed databases, remote authentication, library discovery service, library modules, and other web services used to provide library information and services to HCC students, faculty and staff.

Develop, recommend and administer policies, procedures, and processes in support of the Library Support Services operations in collaboration with Library Council and implement and monitor compliance with approved policies, procedures and processes.  Function as a managerial member of Library Council.

Provide applicable support and assistance in defining Library systems infrastructure processes and associated components, analyzing improvement opportunities, establishing and troubleshooting enterprise network and access issues.

Ensure HCC Library website compliance with HCC branding and web standards, and with current version of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards.

Participate in District-wide development of Library faculty and staff by assisting with mentoring, and training; especially in regards to the use and access of Library systems and resources.

Function as the library liaison to the HCC Information Technology division to: work closely with HCC IT managers on issues affecting library services and access to library resources, identify technology needs within the HCC libraries and the Library Support Services department, and participate in the planning process for meeting those needs.

Collaborate with HCC IT Security directors to coordinate technical compliance in all areas relating to information security risk management for Library systems.

Maintain and report statistics on the use of HCC Library systems and resources at organizational and national levels according to local guidelines and procedures and applicable statutes.

Maintain current knowledge of trends and future directions for Library applications and online environments.

Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

Master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited institution required
5 years progressively responsible experience in libraries, preferably in a multi-library community college setting required; including 3 years experience as head of  a technical/support unit or as an administrator of one or more of the functional areas of library support services        
Licensing & Certification

Valid Texas Driver License
