Description:
Job Summary/Basic Function:
  • Reports to the Director of Library & Learning Services and is responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Administers the library’s integrated library system (SirsiDynix Horizon), online catalog (SirsiDynix Enterprise), discovery layer (EDS), subscription databases, and other electronic resources.
  • Conducts original and complex copy cataloging of library materials in all formats in accordance with national standards.
  • Performs database maintenance to resolve problems with incorrect, incomplete, duplicate, or conflicting bibliographic, holdings, and item data.
  • Maintains the library’s A-Z list of databases and ensures that subscription databases are configured to provide for off-campus access.
  • Troubleshoots access issues with electronic resources and coordinates with the college’s Information Technology Department and vendors to ensure consistent, robust access.
  • Collaborates with library staff to plan, implement, maintain, and evaluate cataloging operations, workflows, and projects to ensure effective and efficient description and discovery of library materials.
  • Coordinates with library staff on withdrawal, inventory, and shifting projects, ensuring that metadata records are properly updated in Horizon and WorldCat.
  • Engages in professional development activities to keep informed of professional trends and practices in cataloging and electronic resources.
  • Assists patrons at the reference desk as scheduled.
  • Updates the library’s website as needed.
  • Performs collection development and other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Library Science (or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited institution.
  • Knowledge of LC classification, LC subject headings, RDA, and MARC formats for bibliographic and authority records.
  • Strong technical skills and computer proficiency.
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented work habits.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability working with culturally diverse populations.
